I LIVE!
I LOVE!
I WRITE!

Wait what was that last one? Well, as I am here to solve your pitiful moral quandries and whatnot, I would just like to say that yes I am still alive, and yes I am writing.

I recently had the idea to write a serialized series of stories. Basically a webcomic in written form, as I suck at art.

I made a site for the stories and everything:

http://storyofwaver.wordpress.com/

The first post is there, and my goal is to have each post be 500-1000 words, and to update 3 times a week.

I also updated my Retro Gamer work. Have a look you can find them on my youtube page!

About 2 months ago I bought a Nikon digital camera, cause I wanted to start getting into taking pictures and video and whatnot. Those videos I took of me talking for example are shot with this little dude.

One of my new years resolutions however was to actually get some USE out of this thing, and thus I have decided to start visiting parks around my home and take pictures and whatnot.

These pictures (hidden behind a cut) are the ones I took when I went up to Lake Lotus Park, which is just up the street from my home. First time I had ever been in the park as well. Now I am no professional photographer, just an noob, but I was hoping someone (LIKE YOU TURSI!) could give me some pointers/thoughts.

The dude in some of the pictures is my friend Dan. He is a goof. Expect more as me and him are planning on visiting parks for explorin fun. Also there are a few pictures of neat houses we saw on another adventure we took on Saturday :O

Please be aware these images have NOT been altered beyond what Flickr does.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/30771423@N02/3169906517/" title="DSCN0093 by Stomphoof, on
So I have finally gotten around to updating my youtube/blip.tv show, called The Retro Gamer. Unfortunately its not Chrono Trigger, but rather something else using a different format. I am doing a Play-Through of the game Companions of Xanth which is an adventure game made in 1993.

I am aware of the audio issue (I am also using a different method of audio/video recording) and I cannot fix it without redoing the audio ENTIRELY. So thats gonna be stuck for now, but part 2 will be a fixed as I am gonna test out some stuff to figure out just WHAT is happening.

I have a few other games such as Earthbound for the SNES and Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos lined up if this style works out better.

The video can be found at http://theretrogamer.blip.tv/ along with the other videos I have made.

I am going to post something. I am not going to give you any background OR information ABOUT this. I simply would like you all to read this and leave me a comment here telling me if this is interesting, and if you would want to read more. Nothing else. No grammer feedback, nothing.

Simply tell me if YES you found it interesting, or NO you did not.

The only thing I will tell you is that its a project that I am working on. Thats all. It shall begin under the line break.

____________________________________________________

The campfire crackled in the still air, and the light from it illuminated the two men sitting near it, and the clearing they sat in. The dark seemed to hang back near the trees, almost oppressive. One of the men, a human, stirred a pot full of stew while the other, a dwarf, sat and smoked a pipe. The pungent pipe smoke hung in the air, casting a hazy pall over the grove where they two sat. After a few moments, the human spoke. "So, Gungrier was it, what brings you to these parts?"
Gungrier put his pipe down and looked into the fire, the light reflecting in his grey eyes. "I don't think you will believe me lad."
The man smiled slightly and used his free hand to push his black hair out of his face. "My name is Argoth, remember? And try me, I might surprise you."
The dwarf nodded, and motioned with one stubby hand towards the pot. "What are ya cookin lad, if I kin ask?"
"Oh just some beans and salt pork." Argoth stirred the pot and took a sip. "Its almost ready. How about this? You tell me your story, and I will tell ya mine?" The smell of the pot began to fill the glade, and Gungrier felt his mouth begin to water.
"Alright laddie." Gungrier got his waterskin out and took a drink, and then began. "I believe I already told ya that I come from the northern mountain tribes, aye?" Argoth nodded. "Well, about three months ago or thereabouts, a strange carnival came to town."
"What made it strange?" Argoth asked as he took a sip of the stew, and then took out two bowls and began to spoon the hearty meal into them. He offered one to Gungrier, who took the bowl and continued. "It was the workers lad. Most of the time when a carnival comes to town, its a time for celebration and the people who work them tend to be happy folk. These people seemed, at least to me, to have a sort of forced happiness. I couldn't get a good look at them though as I was on my way out of town to visit the nearby traders market."
Argoth took a bite of his stew, and then got a loaf of bread out of his pack. He tore it in half and offered one part to Gungrier, who took it with a brief thank you. "Do ya have any jam or butter lad to go with this bread?" Argoth shook his head and readjusted his seat on the ground, and as Gungrier continued he got his bedroll out.
"As I was saying, I was leaving just as the carnival was setting up. It took me 4 days to go out to the traders post with my wares, and to come back. When I got back I found that my wife and son where missing. Now I was right mad I tell you, but the worst part of it was that no one remembered them, or the carnival. In fact, my own clansmen began to think I was crazy."
Argoth nodded as he finished laying out his bedroll. He then began to eat his stew in silence as he contemplated the dwarfs story. Both men sat in silence, the sound of chewing and the crackling and snapping of the campfire the only noises. Finally, after he had finished his stew, Argoth spoke. "I believe you Gungrier." The dwarf's head snapped up suddenly, his red hair flying back behind his head.
"Why lad?"
"Cause your story is very similar to mine, thats why." Gungrier stared at the young man. To him, Argoth seemed to young to be married, but Gungrier was never very good at judging the age of humans. He quickly took stock of the human, noticing for the first time his armor and sword. "You seem a bit young to be married lad, no offense."
Argoth laughed, a deep vibrant sound. "No no, I am not married. In fact, I was a soldier in the kings army, and not a bad one at that if I may say so. I was home on leave and a carnival appeared. I didn't pay much attention to it at first, and I had to leave town as well. I was asked to go grab some supplies from a neighboring town. It took me 3 days to return and when I did, a found that my sister was missing, and no one had any memory of her, even my own mother. And just like you, no one but me remembered the carnival."
The fire continued to crackle as Gungrier sat in silence, absently refilling his pipe. Argoth took stock of the dwarf, carefully noticing the axe, shield, and plate armor that he kept close to him. Finally Gungrier spoke. "Well lad, thats the first I have heard. So why are you out here?"
"I was on my way to the town of Aldaern. Its the biggest town in this region and if anyone else has the same situation we have, I figure that they would be there."
"Would ya mind if I traveled with ya? I don't believe in fate but meeting out here has to mean something."
Argoth smiled. "I would be honored." Then Argoth pointed at Gungrier's axe and said "You any good with that?"
The dwarf gave Argoth a level gaze that spoke volumes, and the human laughed. "Alright, alright. Forget I asked. Lets get some sleep, we should be at the town by midday tomorrow."

I got an SP last night from Gamestop, plus 2 games and a case. The games I got were Golden Sun, and Golden Sun the Lost Age. I just started messing around with it and I rather like it, and so far Golden Sun is interesting. I know I am gonna get FF Tactics Advance, and probebly a couple of the Final Fantasy games and Castlevania. I know I want Super Mario 3, and Super Mario World.

Beyond that though, I am unsure what to get. I got the SP not the DS.

If you have any suggestions on games that you think I might like throw em out here. I prefer Side Scrollers, RPG's, and action games.

So give me a suggestion people!

I got the Silvery Blue SP, which has a brighter backlight. <lj:music>The Megas - Metal Dance</lj:music>

So yesterday at work, while doing the stress testing for the system (which we may have to do more of today!) I was browsing the NESkimo's wikipedia page and found the Similar Artists section. Of course we had the Minibosses, and the Advantage, and all those. But then I saw another band that I had never heard of.

The Megas.

This made me curious, so I checked out their wiki page and found out that they are a Metal Band that has done remixs of the songs from MM2, and actually have an album! Furthermore, the music that they do has lyrics. Its kinda unique!

Anyway, rather then talk about em over and over, how bout you listen to em.

Click Here to open a Player

This player is the Myspace player. Be aware of that. I hate Myspace but more and more bands are using it to showcase their stuff. Bleh. I am debating whether or not I am gonna purchase their album. Its like $10. What do I mean by this? From what I can glean on their site: They contact your creditors, and they negotiate a settlement on your behalf, dramtically reducing your payments and what you owe. Is this a good thing? Yes! If I had $40k in debt I might get it dropped to $20k. Thats over 50% of my debt gone thanks to these guys.

Basically the process works as thus:

1. You call them, or even email em, to get a consultation setup. They go through with you and figure out if they can help you, and apparently this takes as little as 10 minutes

2. They assist you in figuring out how much you can save each month towards paying off these debts, which will be placed in a bank account they help setup but you have control over. These amounts tend to be much less then what you would pay normally, which is always a good thing!

3. After you enroll, they start calling all the people you owe money to and then try to get them to call THEM rather then you. This means less "Hey you owe us money" calls. I hate those calls personally.

4. Once you have saved enough money they start trying to negotiate. Apparently the typical settlement they aim for is 50%.

5. After they pay off the creditor, you get a happy email saying Hey, we paid them for ya! They call it their Good News notification.

6. Finally, they contact the credit company to have them report that your account is now paid in full and in good standing, so to help your credit report.

They also have information on a few other debt relief options, such as Credit Counseling and Bankruptcy. Personally, after reading about Credit Counseling (they work for my creditors? Terrific!) I would personally not choose that. And Bankruptcy messes with your credit report badly. For example: If I had a bankruptcy claim on my credit report I might not have been allowed to join the College of Insurance program at work!

I honestly think that I am going to email these folks and see if they can help me with my student loans and other debt issues that I personally have. I would love to become debt free and I need some help in correcting it. I can't have debt forever ya know!

Gameboy Advance SP vs the DS

So I was thinking of saving up some money and getting myself a Gameboy. My two options are the Advance SP and the DS. In all honestly, both have positives and negatives.

The main reason I would get a DS is for some specific games. Like Disgaia and FF Tactics A2. Beyond that, I am not a huge fan of the freakin thing.

However, I was glancing at the games list of the SP and found a huge library of things like Zelda 1, 2, and Link to the Past, Castlevania 1, and a few other newer Castlevania, FF Tactics Advanced, various FF remakes, ect.

The DS can play GB Advanced games, however its like double in price in most cases. The SP I would most likely have to get used. I hate having to make choices like this. I think I might just get the SP because its cheaper.

I am unsure. Any thoughts?
